Well-known senior citizen mishap victim

One of this area's best known senior citizens, Mrs. Eva Christina Post of 77 Forsyth St., Marmora, died at Belleville General Hospital last Friday evening after being struck by a car on Highway 7 in front of the Relm Tavern. She was in her 82nd year. Mrs. Post and a friend, Mrs. Gladys Leonard, has parked their car on the north side of the highway and were walking across the highway to attend a reception in hour of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harris' 25th wedding anniversary when Mrs. Post was struck by a car going east. The driver of the car was Douglas Matthews, 48, of Oshawa. No charges have been laid in connection with the fatal accident. Funeral service was conducted at St. Andrew's United Church Tuesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. J. M. D. McLeod of Rednersville, formerly of Marmora, officiating. Interment was in Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were her six grandsons: Calvin, Harold, Glen, Lloyd and Dale Acorn and Douglas Sheridan. Daughter of the late John Vansickle and the late former Annie Foster, Mrs. Post was born and educated in Dummer Township. She and her late husband Edmund farmed in Marmora Township before moving to Marmora Village in 1946.

Mrs. Post took a very active part in her church and a number of organizations. She was a member and organist at Zion Church in Marmora Township; a member of the U.C. W. of Zion and St. Andrew's Church; president of the Marinora Senior Citizens Association for' the past seven years and recently president of Zone 18, Federation of Senior Citizens Association; a member of the Marmora Women's Institute; Past Mistress of L.O.B.A. 600in Marmora and the Crystal Chapter in Havelock; member of the Rebecca Lodge in Madoc; head of the Juvenile Lodge in Marmora; and a member of the Happy Gang of St. Andrew's Church. Memorial services were conducted by L.O.B.A. 600 and the Rebecca Lodge Monday evening at the Howen Funeral Home. , Mrs. Post is survived by three daughters: Hazel, Mrs. James Reese of Naples, Italy; Vera, Mrs. Arthur Sheridan of Marmora; and Thelma, Mrs. Robert Sheridan of Trenton. There are eight grandchildren and two great-grand- children. She also leaves two brothers David Vansickle of Lyndhurst and' Harry Vansickle of Peterborough. One brother and one sister predeceased.
