Gabriella Hamley - Violinist
Gabriella moved to Canada from her native Hungary in 1972 and has been in the Marmora area since 1984, living with her husband, Peter, and a number of canine friends. She is a violinist and a violin teacher. She performs frequently as a soloist and in ensembles in Hastings and Peterborough counties, in concerts, weddings, church services and other special events. She played in the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra for 30 years, 10 years as principal second violin, most recently first desk in the first violin section.
Gabriella is founder and concertmaster of the Carpe Diem Ensemble that has been in existence for some 25 years. This delightful string orchestra plays an eclectic mix of popular and classical music and is very popular in the area. The ensemble is based in Marmora but its members come from as far as Peterborough, Belleville and Ardoch.
